What Is Trauma-Informed Nutrition Coaching?

When it feels like your body isn’t responding the way it used to—whether it’s bloating that won’t go away, hormone shifts that leave you drained, or inflammation that impacts your mood—nutrition alone isn’t always the full solution. That’s where trauma-informed nutrition coaching comes in.
It’s More Than a Meal Plan
Trauma-informed coaching acknowledges that your health story includes more than lab results and food choices. It includes your lived experiences—stress, loss, childhood adversity, chronic burnout, or health trauma. These things can affect your digestion, nervous system, metabolism, and relationship with food.
Instead of focusing solely on “what to eat,” trauma-informed nutrition looks at how and why your body is responding the way it does—without shame, blame, or pressure.
What Makes It Different?
In my work at Real Nutrition, LLC and through The Well Rooted Woman, I combine evidence-based nutrition with compassion, cultural awareness, and nervous system support. That means:
You’re never judged for what you're eating or not eating.
We work at your pace, honoring your boundaries and capacity.
We focus on healing and nourishment, not restriction.
We address gut health, hormone imbalances, and inflammation with the understanding that trauma can be stored in the body.
Why It Matters
Many of my clients—especially women between 35 and 60—are navigating perimenopause, chronic stress, or digestive concerns, and feel like they’ve “tried everything.” Trauma-informed coaching offers a new lens: one that understands your symptoms might be protective responses, not failures.
Ready to Feel Safe in Your Body Again?
If you’ve been dismissed, rushed, or overwhelmed in your health journey, know that healing is possible—and it begins with being seen. My approach blends functional nutrition and trauma-informed care to support you with tools that truly meet your needs.
